I've just (via) watched Scott Berkun's lecture on The Myths of Innovation on Youtube. Great and entertaining. One thing that stroke me was this quote (at 35:36 in the video):
So if you're an innovator ... you're introducing change somewhere. To your work place, to your family, to your friends, to your customers, to your co-workers. You're introducing change somewhere. And if you're not aware of that, or is not thinking of the ramifications of your change, your innovation is likely to fail.
On my CV I write that I'm innovative due that exact same reason. But I've considered many times whether this was too much. Am I really innovative? Maybe, maybe not. But I've introduced a lot of changes in where I work.
So...
... and you'll see innovation.
PS. By the way Scott's first book The Art of Project Management is a great book worthwhile reading.
